Explore the realms of your Mind! First I introduce a basic brain map and then the strategy of Non Violent Communication. An insightful journey from the reptilian (physical instincts) to the old mammalian (social instincts) to the new mammalian (interpretive instincts) to the "advanced" brain of executive and spiritual insights and onto strategies for using them for the Highest Good!
This page is a reflection of wisdom that is intended as a guide and not the total Truth. Our belief is that it is not possible to translate Truth into mere language. In my humble opinion this information is the highest resonating explanation of this wonderful place we are co-experiencing that has been related to me as of yet in this Now.

News Flash!!!! We are living life with a totally outdated operating system! Our stone age ancestors had a VERY different life than most of us on the planet today. Our brains still have the structures and
responses within them that helped us survive as "smart" monkeys. The majority of us do not need to have reflexes to save us from hungry tigers. We still have our original reptilian, old mammalian and new mammalian brains along with our advanced brain - all working together and creating quite an interesting journey. The best strategy I have found is to understand why and how our brains react the way they do. When we know why/how and can observe the patterns, we can make a conscious choice to modify our behaviors. Practice mentally stepping back and watching without judgement the thoughts, feelings and urges you have in each moment. Awareness is key!
Our lizard legacy is our reptilian brain. Basic physical instincts and fight or flight.
Our furry little mammal is our old mammalian brain. Rudimentary social instincts.
Our monkey mind if our new mammalian brain. Interpretive instincts.
Our higher porpoise is our advanced brain. Executive brain and spiritual instincts
One of the best ways I have learned to manage our complex brains and habits in a healthy way is through Non Violent Communication (NVC). My spouse took me to a NVC course in 2017 and it literally changed our lives! We have been interacting in a healthy honest way and have become much better at communicating and realizing our actual needs. NVC holds that most conflicts between individuals or groups arise from miscommunication about their human needs, due to coercive or manipulative language that aims to induce fear, guilt, shame, etc. These "violent" modes of communication, when used during a conflict, divert the attention of the participants away from clarifying their needs, their feelings, their perceptions, and their requests, thus perpetuating the conflict. NVC pursues the vision of a world in which everyone values everyone's basic human needs and lives from a consciousness that connects with the universal life energy and natural oneness of all life. Where every individual embraces self compassion. Where people joyfully and compassionately contribute to each other and resolve conflicts peacefully. Where the systems and structures we create in economics, education, justice, health care, peacekeeping and other areas across our global interdependent community reflect that consciousness and evaluate their actions against their contribution to life and the human needs they ultimately serve.
